Lake Dillon Summer Elopement in Breckenridge, CO
Breckenridge, Colorado Elopement and Intimate Wedding Photographer
Tim and Molly’s summer elopement was my first event after COVID-19 shut down the US and the rest of the world. After months of being inside, my adventurous soul was ready to get out, hike and document a memorable wedding day for these two love birds! Molly and Tim thought through all the small wedding details to make their elopement day very meaningful. Molly did a first look in her dress via a Zoom call with her family since they couldn't be present and both of their parents sent letters for them to read during the day. We were all in tears!
There was something magical about Tim and Molly’s day that I hadn’t experienced before. COVID-19 has changed the wedding world for the better. Couples are reaching out to me with enthusiasm about eloping or having a small wedding with just family. No frills, just a memorable wedding day for all involved, full of emotion and joy. I’ve always helped couples plan their elopements or Intimate weddings and encouraged them to make the day with supporting resources, but 2020 has brought about a different element of intentionality I hope we never lose.
For those who are thinking about or planning an elopement or small wedding in the Breckenridge area, I have some key wedding planning tips below!
Breckenridge Elopement and Small Wedding Locations
Rivertree Lodge
Rivertree Lodge is such a gem! It’s an intimate wedding venue for up to 40 guests, close to Dillon Reservoir and Frisco. The venue isn’t far from Lake Dillon which has amazing views of the mountains without much effort if couples are wanting to escape for portraits!
Hoosier Pass
Hoosier pass is off Highway 9 on your way to Fairplay. There are never many people here and the trail offers enough privacy for a small wedding ceremony and portraits. If you have a 4x4, such as Jeep or truck, you can drive to the top of the summit! This is one of my favorite places for elopements! If not, the hiking is feasible, even for those visiting out of state!
Lake Dillon
You can’t miss Lake Dillon as you drive through Frisco! There are several hiking paths that surround the lake and provide different perspectives. From beaches to pine trees, this area has it all! You can see photos of the area in this blog post!
Boreas Pass
This is a dirt road that can be driven when conditions are good (normally June until October) from Breckenridge to Highway 285. The road being open is dependent upon snowfall! I highly recommend a 4WD! There are several hikes at the top of the pass where you can get away from people and have privacy for your wedding itself or portrait time.
