Rainey Street and McKinney Falls State Park Engagement Session in Austin, TX, Haley and Whitney

Haley and Whitney are some of the most down to earth and caring people I’ve ever met! It was a joy to shoot their Austin engagement photography session. They are the sweetest couple, and I felt an immediate connection to them both. In fact, we all grew up in the same part of the country! How weird is that?! Haley is from Shreveport, Louisiana where I was born. Whitney grew up in East Texas, where I spent my teenage years!
At the end of their engagement session, they gave me a bag full of Austin-related cookies and treats from Hayley Cakes along with a letter that made me tear up. These two hold a special place in my heart and I could not be more honored to shoot their Austin wedding at The Union on 8th this fall!
Austin, TX Engagement Session Locations
We did their engagement session at three different places around Austin! First, we started at their house where their dogs, Roux and Rux, joined in the fun! I love how the photos captured their personalities and connection to each other and their fur babies!.
We then moved to Rainey Street, the place where they became an "official couple.” At that special time, Whitney planned a weekend to the Texas Hill Country for Haley's birthday. The weekend ended at Craft Pride on Rainey Street, an Austin craft beer bar! I think the photos show the fun and laidback side of Haley and Whitney’s relationship in a place they hold dear!
Our final stop was McKinney Falls State Park! They love the outdoors, so the natural setting provided the perfect backdrop to display the adventurous yet romantic part of their relationship. I loved that the fall colors were vibrant during our shoot! McKinney Falls sits on Onion Creek and offers a mix of terrains perfect for a couple’s session, which I love!
Plan the Perfect Austin Engagement Photography Session
After the engagement session, Haley sent a text thanking me for the environment I created for them to connect and enjoy being together! It didn’t feel like a photoshoot to them, rather a date. This is the best feedback I can receive as a photographer, holding the perspective and philosophy I do! I work hard to find locations that match each couple’s story, personality and interests!
I take the time to talk with each couple so that I understand a little bit about who they are as individuals and a couple. This allows me to create the best environment and vibe for each session.
Austin offers so many great locations for engagement photos, adventure elopement photography and anniversary photo sessions.
